Popova Šapka – Skiing on Šar Mountain
Popova Šapka is one of the oldest ski resorts in the Balkans, set high on the slopes of Šar mountain above Tetovo. It is known for its wide, open terrain, reliable snow and a growing reputation for freeride and cat-skiing. In summer the same slopes become hiking country, with trails leading to glacial lakes and the peaks along the Šar ridge.
From Skopje International Airport the drive heads west to Tetovo and then up the mountain road to the resort, a steady climb with wide views over the Polog valley. In winter our drivers use vehicles equipped for snow.
A private transfer is the simplest way to arrive with skis and luggage. You are met at arrivals, everything goes in one vehicle, and you are driven straight to your hotel or apartment on the mountain.
